Kathmandu: A high-level Japanese delegation led by Takebe Arata, a prominent Japanese parliamentarian, met with President Ramchandra Paudel at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas, today.
During the meeting, President Paudel highlighted Nepal’s potential for investment in key sectors including hydropower, tourism, and agriculture. He emphasized recent legal reforms aimed at creating a more favorable investment climate and encouraged Japanese investors to consider opportunities in Nepal.
Expressing deep appreciation for Japan’s “unconditional and selfless” support, President Paudel thanked Japan for its contributions to Nepal’s infrastructure, agriculture, and health sectors. He also underscored the cultural bond between the two nations, noting that both countries share a connection through Lord Buddha, and acknowledged the strong people-to-people ties.
President Paudel also praised the performance of Nepali students who have returned from Japan with valuable skills. He expressed satisfaction with their progress and contributions.
The Japanese delegation, led by Arata, who is also the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Judicial Affairs in Japan’s House of Representatives, brought to President Paudel’s attention the need for an environment conducive to Japanese companies wishing to invest in Nepal. They also noted their pleasure at meeting Nepali students eager to further their studies in Japan and return with enhanced skills.
Arata suggested that the Nepalese government focus on economic decentralization and create supportive conditions for returnees to contribute effectively to Nepal’s development.
