Kathmandu: In a concerted effort to ensure the safe return of Nepali nationals amidst ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, a total of 56 Nepali students have successfully arrived back in Nepal. They landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday, marking a significant development in the evacuation process.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, more than 800 Nepalis out of nearly 3000 currently in Bangladesh have initiated their journey back to Nepal. This exodus, facilitated through both air and land routes, is part of a broader effort by the Nepali government to repatriate its citizens amidst escalating tensions.
In a separate arrangement, the Government of Nepal has coordinated the return of 17 students studying at Inam Medical College in Bangladesh. These students were airlifted directly to Kathmandu, underscoring Nepal’s commitment to ensuring the safe return of its citizens abroad.
Amid assurances of safety, Undersecretary Acharya reiterated that all Nepalis residing in Bangladesh are secure and will be repatriated to Nepal in due course. The government’s proactive measures aim to mitigate any potential risks faced by its citizens abroad, ensuring their safe return amidst challenging circumstances.
