Kathmandu Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is set to seek a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives (HoR) on July 12, following the withdrawal of support by the CPN-UML.
PM Dahal will present his proposal seeking a vote of confidence during the upcoming HoR meeting. The CPN-UML withdrew its support from the government on July 3, leading to the resignation of eight ministers, which has since been accepted. The UML has also notified the Federal Parliament Secretariat of its shift to an opposition role.
This political shift follows an agreement on July 1 between the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML to collaborate on issues including government formation and constitutional amendments, forming a new political equation.
Despite now leading a minority government, PM Dahal has decided to face parliament rather than resign from his position.
