Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population has issued a statement urging the public to avoid consuming wild mushrooms, citing a significant increase in deaths linked to their ingestion in recent years.
The National Health Education, Information, and Communication Center, a division under the Ministry of Health and Population, has issued a cautionary notice following a disturbing trend of fatalities caused by the consumption of wild mushrooms.
According to the advisory, handling wild mushrooms with bare hands is also discouraged due to potential toxicity concerns. As the rainy season progresses, wild mushrooms tend to proliferate, heightening the health risk associated with their consumption.
The Center emphasized that ingesting these mushrooms can result in severe illness and, in severe cases, even death. The Ministry continues to monitor the situation closely and urges the public to exercise caution and seek immediate medical attention if they suspect mushroom poisoning.
