Kathmandu: Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has issued a directive to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), urging them to refrain from engaging in non-routine activities.
Following a landmark decision by the Supreme Court on April 3, the MoFA dispatched a letter on Wednesday, instructing the NRNA Secretariat to abstain from undertaking any tasks beyond regular administrative duties until the formation of a new International Coordination Council.
The MoFA emphasized that activities related to the election of the International Coordination Council, as well as any parallel operations initiated in accordance with the Supreme Court’s ruling, would not be recognized as official. The directive underscores the importance of adhering to Rule 16 (2) of the Non-Resident Nepali Rules, 2066 BS, to safeguard the unity, integrity, and objectives of the NRNA.
The official communication from the MoFA stated, “It has been requested that activities potentially impacting the unity, integrity, and effectiveness of the NRNA, including financial responsibilities beyond regular administrative duties, should be suspended until the establishment of the new International Coordination Council through a unity convention, as mandated by the Supreme Court’s order to the high-level committee formed on January 15, 2022, under the leadership of the former NRNA president.”
This development marks a significant step in ensuring the adherence to legal procedures and maintaining harmony within the NRNA community. Stay tuned for further updates on this evolving story.
