Kathmandu: In response to the recent altercation between customs staff and police personnel at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the Ministry of Home Affairs has taken swift action by establishing a three-member committee to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
Led by Joint-Secretary Thaneshwor Gautam of the Ministry, the committee includes Deputy Inspector General Rajeshnath Bastola from Nepal Police and Under-Secretary Kul Bahadur GC from the Immigration Administration. The committee has been entrusted with the responsibility of examining the details surrounding the scuffle that transpired at TIA in Kathmandu on Friday.
The Ministry has set a timeline for the committee to complete its investigation promptly, mandating the submission of a comprehensive report within three days. Alongside the report, the committee is expected to provide recommendations based on their findings.
The formation of this investigative committee underscores the government’s commitment to addressing and resolving incidents of conflicts within critical institutions such as the airport, ensuring transparency and accountability in the process.
