Kathmandu: Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) under the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has issued a notice to nine construction companies, demanding explanations within seven days following recommendations from various governmental bodies.
The PPMO has cautioned that failure to provide satisfactory responses within the stipulated timeframe may result in the blacklisting of these companies. The PPMO has specifically asked the concerned companies to submit detailed explanations justifying why they should not be included in the blacklist.
This action comes in response to recommendations from different agencies within the Government of Nepal, all advocating for the blacklisting of the specified construction companies. Among the companies facing scrutiny are Pushpanjali Construction and Suppliers in Kathmandu, led by Hari Dev Pandey, and New Bheri Engineering Workshop in Surkhet, headed by Begendra Jung Barmashakha.
Bardaghat Municipality and New Kumakh Rural Municipality, Salyan have recommended the blacklisting of these companies to the PPMO. Aravali Infrapower India, recommended for blacklisting by the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), has also been given a seven-day deadline to provide an explanation.
The principal figure associated with this company is Rakesh Jolly from New Delhi, with Bhushan Thapa serving as the official representative in Nepal. Additionally, Prem Krishna Shrestha of Pranish International Pvt Ltd in Kathmandu and Shyam Bahadur Jargamgar of Koshi Nirman Sewa, Kathmandu, have been asked to clarify their positions within seven days. These companies have been recommended for blacklisting by Nepal Police Headquarters and Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, Sindhuli, respectively.
Other companies receiving notices include Infracon Pvt Ltd, with Jagdish Chandra Agarwal and Dinesh Chandra R Agarwal, and JV Shankarmali Nirman Sewa represented by Dan Bahadur Karki, following recommendations from the Road Improvement and Development Project Directorate of the Department of Roads.
Furthermore, Rajkumar Rawat of Mama Bhanja Nirman Sewa in Udaipur, Dashrath Waiba of Satyashwori Construction Pvt Ltd in Kathmandu, and Prem Prasad Adhikari of Panchkhal Construction Pvt in New Baneshwar, Kathmandu, have been summoned to provide clarifications. These companies have been recommended for blacklisting by Suryodaya Municipality in Ilam, Indra Sarovar Rural Municipality in Makwanpur, and Water Resources and Irrigation Development Division Office in Dhulikhel, respectively.
In the event of blacklisting, these companies would be prohibited from engaging in any public agency projects under the Government of Nepal for the specified period. The PPMO’s decisive action reflects its commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability in public procurement processes.
