Kathmandu: The Foreign Employment Board is prepearing to give financial assistance worth Rs. 1 million to the families of workers who died while working abroad.
Earlier, the board had been giving 7 lakhs to the family of the deceased in the case of death of the laborer who went for foreign employment with government labor permit.
The board has been providing such assistance from the amount deposited by the workers in the foreign employment welfare fund while going for foreign employment.
There is a provision that workers going for foreign employment must pay Rs 1,500 for a work permit of up to three years and Rs 2,500 for a work permit of more than three years in the welfare fund.
The educational allowance provided to the children of deceased workers has also been increased.
The board has been providing scholarships to the children of the deceased for their studies from infant to 12th standard.
Scholarships are also being provided from the funds collected by the workers while going for foreign employment.
