Kathmandu: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha has said that Nepal has been made a transit for gold smuggling.
Responding to the gold smuggling case in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Minister Shrestha said that efforts are being made to make Nepal a transit for gold smuggling with the involvement of international criminals, which will seriously affect Nepal’s security and economy.
Shrestha said that gold smuggling has been going on in Nepal for a very long time period.
Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha said that the culprits of the current gold smuggling will be prosecuted at all costs and new policies, decisions and action plans will be implemented regarding the security and management of Tribhuvan International Airport to prevent such incidents from happening again.
