Kathmandu: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has banned solo trek from now onwards.
Earlier NTB had been distributing tourist information management system ‘TIMS’ card for solo trekker as well.
However, owing to increasing bad incidents with solo trekker, NTB has now decided to stop distributing TIMS card for individual.
Nepal used to be infamous at the international level when tourists who went on their own initiative died and went missing. The new rule will come into implementation from April 1.
After the board’s decision, foreign tourists visiting Nepal now have to travel through the company only with guides.
