Kathmandu: Under the Tourism Infrastructure Construction and Tourism Product Development Partnership Program, 200 projects have been selected from across the country.

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has announced selected projects on Thursday. This program concept has been brought by the then Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari as an alternative to the 100 destinations brought by the previous Tourism Minister Yogesh Bhattarai.

Both the central and local governments will be investing jointly for this project.

Prior to this, the ministry itself had selected 100 destinations and handed over the project responsibilities to the local governments. However, the project could not get pace. After that, the ministry has brought a new concept of joint investment citing that the local level has not taken ownership of it.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, programs for tourism promotion, construction of tourism infrastructure, and preservation of culture have been selected.
