2.14 billion loan agreement with World Bank to purchase vaccine

Kathmandu: The government has signed a concessional loan agreement of Rs 2.14 billion with the World Bank to purchase vaccine against covid.

The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Finance on Friday by Finance Secretary Madhukumar Marasini on behalf of the government and Faris Hadad-Jarvos, National Director for Maldives and Sri Lanka, including Nepal.

The Ministry of Finance has stated that the loan amount will be spent to vaccinate all Nepalis above the age of five.

The World Bank says the loan assistance and the Covid 19 Emergency Response and Health System Prep Project will be used to identify, prevent and respond to the threat posed by the Covid epidemic, as well as to strengthen Nepal’s public health preparedness system.
