Kathmandu: The Chinese vaccine against corona is coming to Kathmandu today.
A total of 800,000 doses of vaccine assisted by the Chinese government are coming to Kathmandu today.
The national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation’s widebody A330 aircraft has gone to the Chinese capital Beijing on Sunday afternoon to get the vaccine. The aircraft will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport at 8.30 pm on Monday night.
The vaccine, produced by China’s Synovac Biotech, can be stored at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius. This vaccine should be given in two doses.
According to officials, the Chinese vaccine has proved to be more effective in various tests than the Covishield vaccine currently being used by Nepal.
Earlier, the Government of India had provided one million doses of Covishield vaccine produced by India’s Serum Institute to Nepal as a grant.
