Tourism stakeholders ask government to relax strict health safety protocols

Kathmandu: Representatives of umbrella organizations related to the tourism sector have demanded the removal of the strict quarantine provision for tourists in Nepal. Organizing a joint program on Monday, the tourism entrepreneurs have demanded the government to remove the mandatory provision of quarantine.

Entrepreneurs have also complained that the government is not serious in solving the problems of the tourism sector, saying that the overall tourism industry including Nepal’s mountain tourism has collapsed due to the corona virus infection.

Two dozens of associations, including Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAN), Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), Nepal Hotel Association (HAN), Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), Himalayan Rescue Association, Society of Travel and Tour Operators Nepal has organised the press meet to drag attention of the government towards the tourism sector.

Entrepreneurs have demanded to provide on-arrival service to all tourists coming to Nepal. Entrepreneurs have also demanded the management to keep a covid test machine at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and collect swabs for tourists immediately.

They demanded that the remaining international flights be reopened as soon as possible. Entrepreneurs demand that the vaccine against corona should also be made available to tourism entrepreneurs and tourism workers.

He also said that initiatives should be taken to open the border between Nepal and China as soon as possible.

Entrepreneurs demand that tourists visiting Nepal should be allowed to visit Nepal only with the help of a guide and trekking assistant from the company.
