Kathmandu: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai has said that a separate security unit should be formed for airport security.
He said that he has started discussions with the security forces and the concerned ministry for the formation of a separate security unit named ‘Airport Security Police’.
Inaugurating the security guard building constructed at Tribhuvan International Airport today, Minister Bhattarai stressed on the need to set up a separate security unit despite the security sensitivities at the airport.
There is a need for specialized security units as people close to international criminal activities and organizations involved are likely to be evacuated from the airport, he said.
