Prachanda-Madhav group announces strike on Thursday

Kathmandu: The CPN-Prachanda-Madhav faction has announced a strike on Thursday, alleging that the appointments were made by force in the constitutional bodies.

On the recommendation of the government, President Bidhyadevi Bhandari on Wednesday appointed the officials on Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority and the Election Commission. The Prachanda-Madhav faction has announced a nationwide strike on Thursday, saying that the government and the president have been appointed to constitutional bodies unconstitutionally and illegally.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, coordinator of the struggle committee, said that the appointments made in the constitutional bodies were the autocracy. Stating that they are compelled to hold a strike against it, he said, “There will be some uncomfortable situation. We apologize on behalf of the party for this inconvenience.”

He said that this kind of struggle has to be waged for the defense of the constitution and democracy.

Pampha Bhusal, co-coordinator of the struggle committee, said that they would allow necessary services and not interfere in the examination during the strike. The struggle committee has stated that the students who are going to take the exam will be able to bring their vehicles by showing the admission card.
