Nepal lost 3-0 to Jordan

Kathmandu: Nepal has lost 3-0 to Jordan in the Group B match of the 2022 World Cup and 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers. Earlier, Nepal win against Chinese Taipei with a 2-0 score however, it could not score against Jordan.

Jordan secured its first two goals in the first half and third goal in the second half.

This is the fifth defeat when Nepal played its seventh game in Group B. Earlier, Nepal had lost 3-0 in Jordan in 2019. Similarly, Nepal lost both the matches against Kuwait and also lost against Australia. Nepal had won both the games against Chinese Taipei.

Nepal, which is in the fourth position with six points from seven games, now has to play against Australia.

After losing to Jordan, Nepal’s chances of playing in the third round playoff for the Asia Cup are almost gone. Similarly, Nepal’s chances of reaching the third round of Qatar World Cup 2022 selection are now over.

It is almost certain that Nepal will have to play in the playoffs to reach the third round selection for the Asia Cup to be held in China in 2023. Nepal will now play the final match of the selection against Australia on June 11.
