Lukla airport to remain close for uncertain period

Kathmandu: Khumbu Pasang Lhamu rural municipality of Solukhumbu district has announced to halt flight operations for uncertain period. Considering the increasing infection of covid-19, tthe rural municipality has decided to halt flight operations for a few days. Starting from Friday the airport will remain close. The rural municipality has sent a letter to the airline operators requesting not to schedule flights for Lukla. Currently Tara Air, Summit Air and Sita Air are operating flights to Lukla. The notice has also mentioned that other people except villagers, civil servants and teachers are not allowed to enter the rural municipality.According to the rural municipality, hotels and lodges inside the rural municipality have also been closed to prevent the spread of corona virus. Residents, teachers and staff of the rural municipality should have also received a negative PCR report within 72 hours of coming to the village.
