Kathmandu Metropolitan City not allowing schools to resume classes

Kathmandu: Schools within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, which have been closed for a long time due to Covid-19, will not be reopened immediately.

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Education Department has reached such a conclusion after discussions with the officials, experts and district security chiefs of the district disaster management center on Wednesday.

The KMC has rather suggested to continue online classes. As the Ministry of Health was preparing to test about 50,000 antigens in January and suggested to move ahead only after looking into the situation, KMC has decided not reopen schools now.

KMC said that 9 out of 11 wards of Kathmandu are run by the local level schools, adding that it would be better to move ahead only after discussing with the stakeholders.
