Japan to provide 1.6 mn doses of vaccine to Nepal

Kathmandu: The Japanese government has decided to vaccinate Nepal against 1.6 million doses of corona. Speaking at a press conference at the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Moteji said that 1.6 million doses of AstraZeneca would be vaccinated in Nepal under the Covax facility.

According to the Japanese embassy in Nepal, the vaccine will arrive in Nepal by August. Those who have already taken the first dose of Covishield can be given a second dose of AstraZeneca, the embassy said.
According to Ambassador Kikuta Yutuka, said that the Japanese government is closely monitoring the need for vaccination due to the growing epidemic of corona in Nepal.

Nepal has already received 1.5 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from the United States under the Covax facility.
