Indian Army Chief Naravane arriving Nepal on Wednesday
Kathmandu: Indian Army Chief Manoj Mukunda Naravane is coming to Kathmandu on Wednesday.
During the visit, Naravane will receive the insignia of the Commander-in-Chief of the Nepal Army from President Vidhya Devi Bhandari and a meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Border dispute between Nepal and India is on the rise after India released maps including Kalapani, Lipulek and Limpiyadhura. Since then, the visit of Naravane, which is about to take place at a time when there is no dialogue between the two countries at the political and diplomatic levels, has been viewed with interest.
Against the backdrop of the role played by military diplomacy in lifting the blockade, the visit is expected to help end non-communication in border disputes.
Nepal Army official Rathi Prabhuram Sharma will arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday to welcome Narwane. No formal program has been scheduled for the first day, but informal meetings will be held in coordination with the Indian Embassy in Nepal.
The important program of the visit is scheduled for Thursday. Shital Niwas has scheduled a program to mark the honorary Maharathi. Nepal and India have a tradition of honoring the army chiefs of the two countries as honorary commanders in each other’s countries.
The army had been saying that Naravane’s visit to Nepal had been postponed due to the Covid-19 virus.
Before the Shital Niwas program, Naravane is scheduled to pay homage at the Veer Smarak at Sainik Manch Tundikhel, after which he will inspect the military garrison at the battlefield. Naravane will also hold a formal dialogue with his counterpart Purnachandra Thapa on Thursday.
After the discussion, he will also hold discussions with senior military officials of the battlefield. Jangiadda has also organized a dinner on Thursday evening in honor of Naravane.
On the last day of the visit, Naravane will interact with students at Sainik Staff College, Shivpuri. After that, he is scheduled to return home after meeting Prime Minister and Defense Minister Oli.
