Bagmati province to provide Rs 50,000 each to cancer patients

Chitwan (Rashtriya Samachar Samiti): The provincial government of the Bagmati province has announced to provide Rs 50,000 each for the treatment of cancer patients.

Earlier, the federal government had been providing Rs 100,000 treatment assistance to cancer patients. According to Dr. Dej Kumar Gautam, Executive Director of BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, an agreement has been reached with the Ministry of Social Development of Bagmati Pradesh to provide a discount facility with effect from February 13.

He said that the provincial government will provide additional Rs 50,000 out of Rs 100,000 provided by the government for the treatment of cancer.

The amount provided by the provincial government will be spent only after the assistance received from the federal government is exhausted. He said that only the permanent residents of Bagmati province will get the assistance of Rs 50,000. The state has allocated Rs. 70 million for this facility in the current fiscal year.

About 40 percent of the cancer patients who come to the hospital for treatment are from Bagmati province. He said that the patient and his family would get relief as soon as they get more help.
